About Ian

Born and raised in Seaham, Ian McAndrew has dedicated his life to culinary excellence and hospitality. His illustrious career spans over five decades, during which he became the youngest Englishman to earn a Michelin Star—a testament to his dedication and skill. Ian's journey began at esteemed establishments like The Dorchester and The Carlton Tower, where he honed his craft under renowned chefs. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open multiple successful restaurants, consistently earning prestigious accolades, including Michelin Stars and AA Rosettes. Ian's passion for the culinary arts also led to the authorship of three bestselling books: A Feast of Fish, Poultry & Game, and A Feast of Fish Two. His commitment to excellence extended to his role as owner of Blackaddie House Hotel in Dumfries & Galloway, which he and his wife Jane transformed into a 4 Gold Star establishment, celebrated for its exceptional service and dining experiences. ​
